Getting to Maastricht

Maastricht is perfectly situated at the southernmost point of the Netherlands, near the borders of Belgium and Germany. The city is easily accessible through various means of transportation. Below, you’ll find helpful tips and essential information to assist you in planning your journey to Maastricht.

By Car or Public Transport

Find out how to get to Maastricht by car or public transport and how to get around the city on the Maastricht bereikbaar website.

By Plane

Maastricht is centrally located between Amsterdam, Brussels, Cologne, Paris and London, and is surrounded by several international airports. You can fly into one of the following airports. From there, you can easily take a train or book a shuttle to Maastricht.

Belgium

Germany

Trains from Amsterdam Airport Shiphol

The cheapest way to get to Maastricht from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Brussels Airport is by train.

The Schiphol train station is situated directly below the airport. Train tickets are available from the yellow ticket machines near the platforms at Schiphol Plaza or from the ticket offices, which are situated close to the red/white-checked cube at Schiphol Plaza. Trains depart for Maastricht twice an hour. Buy a one-way ticket (“enkele reis”) to Maastricht Central Station. Intercity trains are faster than local trains (“stoptrein” or “sprinter”). When in doubt, you can always ask someone at the ticket office. Almost everyone in the Netherlands speaks English fairly well. For journey advice and time tables you can also check: www.ns.nl/en.

Trains from Amsterdam Airport Shiphol

There is a train station in the basement of Brussels airport, level -1, just follow the signs. You can buy a ticket to Maastricht there and you can ask for a printed itinerary. For more information, consult the website of the Belgian Railways.

Airport Shuttle from Different Airports

Airport Service Patrick provides airport transport services. You can split the costs if you travel with other people (depending on how many people fit in the car/van). Make sure to tell them how much luggage you have as well as with how many people you travel.

M-BEES and M-BEPS 2025

On the two days before the conference, June 10-11, the Maastricht Behavioral and Experimental Economics Symposium (M-BEES) and the Maastricht Behavioral Economic Policy Symposium (M-BEPS) take place – a great opportunity to attend all three events back-to-back.

I’m interested in behavioral and experimental finance/economics, and applied microeconomics. Particularly, I focus mainly on three topics now: 1) learning and information acquisition, 2) biased belief formation and updating, 3) sustainable finance.
